Colleagues posted abroad with children under seven years of age might have missed receiving ‘Family Allowance’ cheques owing to their being outside Canada at the time. If so, Service Canada offers an opportunity for qualifying candidates to obtain compensation that could lead to a boost in monthly CPP payments.
The process is said to be uncomplicated and Service Canada has been found to be helpful, friendly and speedy. The compensation adjustment can be sizable, depending on family size and years of deprivation.
